6 at-home date ideas when you only have 30 minutes
Choose something you can start with what you already have. Even 15 minutes can give you a little time together on a busy evening.
Too tired to choose? Try the kitchen café if you want to talk, or the two-song date if you would rather sit quietly together.
Have a two-song listening date
Low effort · 15 minutes
Choose one song each. Play both without checking your phones, then tell each other which line, sound or memory stood out. No playlist required.
Make a café out of your kitchen
Low effort · 20 minutes
Pour a drink you already have, bring a snack to the table and ask each other one question about the week. The person listening gets one follow-up question before you swap.
Watch a short film together
Low effort · 25–30 minutes
Pick one film or episode that lasts no more than 20 minutes. Put the snacks out first and save five minutes afterwards to share your favourite moment.
Cook a snack from what you have
A little prep · 30 minutes
Each of you picks one ingredient from the cupboard or fridge. Make toast, a dip or a snack plate together. Keep the recipe simple enough to eat before the timer goes off.
Play a one-round game
A little energy · 20–30 minutes
Grab cards, a word game or a jigsaw you already own. Pick a short round or work on one corner of the puzzle. Set a timer if either of you needs the evening to end on time.
Give three photos a second look
Low effort · 15–20 minutes
Choose three photos from time you spent together. Take turns explaining what happened just before or after each picture. Finish by picking one little thing you would like to do again.
